Larry Pearson Injured Badly In NASCAR legends Race


Two drivers taking part in an exhibition race among NASCAR legends at  Bristol Motor Speedway were injured in a violent wreck and transported  to a local hospital Saturday afternoon.


Larry Pearson’s family confirmed through track officials that the  driver had a compound fracture of his left ankle, a fractured pelvis and  a fractured right hand. He was to have surgery late Saturday.


Pearson’s father, David, also was in the race. He stopped racing  after the ambulance left so that he could travel to the hospital.


A frightening crash in a "legends" race for retired  NASCAR drivers resulted in two famous names from stock car racing's past  – Larry Pearson and Charlie Glotzbach – being transported to an area  hospital Saturday.


Larry Pearson is racing legendDavid Pearson's son. David Pearson  left the race to go to the hospital and check on Larry. Glotzbach was  also taken to the hospital.


The legends race was not a NASCAR-sanctioned event.
