Thach  Sophorn, the former abbot of Wat Nikrauth Kampong Khsan (Kampong Khsay)  Pagoda, located in Preah Trapaing (renamed Tra Vinh by the occupying  Vietnamese) province, will hear his sentence from the Vietnamese  Communist Party’s court at 7AM on 27 September. He was arrested since  July of this year and the Viet authority did not provide any reason for  his arrest.
The former abbot of Nikrauth Kampong Khsan Pagoda was born in 1976, he was the youngest of 8 children of Elders Thach Yang and Thach Thi Yeun. He was ordained in 1990 and was selected as the abbot of Wat Nirauth Kampong Khsan Pagoda in 2000 by the monks association and pagoda members. He left monkhood on 22 July 2010 and he was subsequently arrested by the Viet authority on 29 July 2010 at 11AM.
