Shania Twain was born Eilleen Regina Edwards in Windsor, Ontario, daughter of Clarence and Sharon Edwards. Her parents divorced when she was two and her mother then moved to Timmins,Ontario with Eilleen and her sisters Jill and Carrie Ann. Sharon married Jerry Twain, an Ojibwa, and they had two more children, Mark and Darryl. Jerry adopted the girls, legally changing their last name to Twain. Because of her connection to her stepfather, in the past, people had presumed Twain’s ancestry was Ojibwa, but she stated in an interview that her biological father was part Cree. As well, though her mother she is a descendant of Zacharie Cloutier. Her maternal grandmother, Eileen Pearce, emigrated from Newbridge, Kildare, Ireland.
Eilleen Twain had a hard childhood in Timmins. Her parents earned little and there was often a shortage of food in the household. Eilleen did not confide her situation to school authorities, fearing they might break up the family. In the remote, rugged community, she learned to hunt and to chop wood. At one point, while Jerry was at work, her mother drove the rest of the family 425 miles (684 km) south to a Toronto homeless shelter for assistance. Back in Timmins, Twain started singing at bars at the age of eight to try to make ends meet, often earning twenty dollars between midnight and one in the morning performing for remaining customers after the bar had finished serving. Although she expressed a dislike for singing in those bars, Twain believes that this was her own kind of performing arts school on the road. She has said of the ordeal, “My deepest passion was music and it helped. There were moments when I thought ‘I hate this’. I hated going into bars and being with drunks. But I loved the music and so I survived”.[9] Twain wrote her first songs at the age of ten, Is Love a Rose and Just Like the Storybooks which were fairy tales in rhyme.[10] She states that the art of creating, of actually writing songs, “was very different from performing them and became progressively important”.
In the early 1980s, Twain spent some time working with her father’s reforestation business in northern Ontario, a business that employed some 75 Ojibwe and Cree workers. Although the work was demanding and the pay low, Twain said “I loved the feeling of being stranded. I’m not afraid of being in my own environment, being physical, working hard. I was very strong, I walked miles and miles every day and carried heavy loads of trees. You can’t shampoo, use soap or deodorant, or makeup, nothing with any scent; you have to bathe and rinse your clothes in the lake. It was a very rugged existence, but I was very creative and I would sit alone in the forest with my dog and a guitar and would just write songs”.
She rose to fame in the mid 1990s with her album The Woman in Me (1995), and achieved worldwide success with her 1997 album Come On Over, which became the best-selling album of all time by a female musician in any genre, and the best-selling country album of all time. It has sold over 40 million copies worldwide and is the 9th best-selling album in the U.S.. Her 4th album, titled Up! was released late 2002. To date it has sold 16 million copies worldwide.
A five-time Grammy Award winner, Twain has also achieved major success as a songwriter, winning 27 BMI Songwriter awards. Twain is one of the first country artists to achieve major crossover success in pop music. She is the only female musician to have three albums certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America and is also the second best-selling artist in Canada, behind fellow Canadian Céline Dion, with three of her studio albums being certified double diamond by the Canadian Recording Industry Association. Twain has sold over 76 million albums worldwide, including 49 million in the U.S. She is ranked as the 10th best-selling artist of the Nielsen SoundScan era, with approximately 34 million in sales through April 2008. She was also ranked the 72nd Artist of the 2000–10 decade by Billboard. Most recently, Twain will have her own series, Why Not?

Yesterday, an Australian tabloid report that "Twilight" babe had missed her age and sent a friend to get a home pregnancy kit. The report said: "Because she worked out that she was late, she it seems that began to think that she may be pregnant. And because of timing," she says Rob can be a father. “
Magazine has report that Stewart has an "official" girlfriend by the name of Michael Angarano, who was spotted with Kristen in Vancouver during the filming of New Moon. But we have no tangible confirmation about his supposed association with Rob.
Meanwhile Pattinson is jealous female fans be supposed to have started distribution hate mail to Kristen Stewart. Metro quotes an insider saying: "Christian has had letters from girls who do not think she treat Rob pretty because she is dating Michael Angarano. The letters sent to the facility, condemning Christians of being callous dating both guys."
But Stewart is currently busy shooting on position in Los Angeles for refugees and Robert Pattinson is on location in New York City to bear in mind me. All Twilight Saga stars will have a very busy 2009, when they return to Vancouver to film Eclipse and Breaking Dawn "end-to-end.

NEW YORK: Hollywood would like to skip spring and head straight to summer.
The summer-style blockbuster "Battle: Los Angles" performed like one at the box office, opening to a strong debut of $36 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. The film stars Aaron Eckhart as a veteran soldier leading a platoon of Marines in combat against invading aliens.
For Columbia Pictures and Sony, the sci-fi action film recalls its 2009 Oscar-nominated hit, "District 9." "Battle: Los Angeles" hasn't received nearly as good reviews, but it benefited from a 68 percent male audience and a very successful marketing campaign.
"It's kind of like having a summer film in the spring," said Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution at Sony. "From the beginning, this was a film we were excited about."
Bruer added that there's "definitely a connection" between "Battle: Los Angeles" and "District 9," which opened to $37.4 million and was also helmed by a South African filmmaker. Neill Blomkamp directed "District 9," while Jonathan Liebesman directed the similarly handheld-heavy "Battle: Los Angeles."
In its second week of release, the animated Western spoof "Rango" came in second, adding $23.1 million for a cumulative total of $68.7 million. The critically acclaimed Paramount Pictures film appeared on its way to surpassing $100 million.
The weekend's other new releases didn't fare as well.

"Red Riding Hood," the updated fairy tale starring Amanda Seyfried and helmed by "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke, debuted to $14.1 million for Warner Bros.
Worse was Disney's animated 3-D family film "Mars Needs Moms!" It opened to a disappointing $6.8 million, well below expectations. With a voice cast including Seth Green and Joan Cusack, it also opened on more than 200 IMAX screens.
Based on the book of the same title by Berkeley Breathed, "Mars Needs Moms!" had an estimated production budget of $150 million. Such a poor start means it's likely to be a significant loss for Disney, though that pain is somewhat alleviated by its surprise hit, "Gnomeo & Juliet." It has taken in $89 million in five weeks.
Overall, movie-going business was still down from the corresponding weekend last year. Since November 2010, such down weekends have been the norm except for one up weekend. The box office for 2011 was 21.5 percent off last year's pace.
Hollywood.com analyst Paul Dergarabedian said the weekend business was "good news for aliens, bad news for the overall box office."
"It's a cyclical business, but this is a long downturn," said Dergarabedian. "The industry is holding its collective breath for summer to start."
With myriad blockbusters planned for both the summer and holiday seasons, Hollywood has reason to expect better business as the year continues.
Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Hollywood.com. Final figures will be released Monday.

There's Battle Lines Bein' Drawn...
In 1964, the musical focus shifts from New York City to this innovative, idealistic setting on the West Coast. Rock'n'roll takes hold of L.A., and it's movie star glamour is out. LA's club scene ignites into a frenzy of revolutionary music, art, and politics. Elmer Valentine opened the Whisky A Go Go, after being inspired by a French Nightclub of the same name, and it changes the Strip forever. By 1965, the Sunset Strip is booming and buzzing with the arrival of a new string of clubs. Pandora's Box and Gazzarri's, house the burgeoning garage-punk scene, including: The Standells, The Knickerbockers, The Seeds, and The Bobby Fuller Four- who adopt the fuzz-tone sound. Frank Zappa emerges, leading The Mothers of Invention, while The Byrds jump-start the folk-rock genre. A rush of new bands stem from them including: Love, The Leaves, The Rising Sons, The Turtles, The Mamas and the Papas, and more. A chance meeting on the Strip leads to the formation of Buffalo Springfield, while The Doors break on through at the Whisky; becoming their house band. Teenagers spent their evenings on the Strip, interacting with various budding icons of music. However, in the span of November 1966 to January 1967, the longstanding generational tensions reach their boiling point, when a peaceful protest goes arise. The LAPD's crackdowns, curfews, and harrassment towards young people, turn the peace protest into a 5 night battle between the teens and the police. Riots ensue, and this chaos inspires the song: "For What is Worth" by Steven Stills. He said: "I sat down and wrote the song in 15 minutes...The Sunset Strip riot was just a funeral for a bar. But then you had the immortal genius of idiots that ran the LAPD, who put on all of those troopers in full battle array, looking like the Macedonian army, up against a bunch of kids". Police ended up closing several clubs within weeks of the riots. Eventually, big businesses swooped into Hollywood and brought to a close the vibrant scene- making it lose it's organic and unique quality which produced some of the most creative music of the 60's.
