Meet Tammy and Jen

Meet Tammy!  She purchased this 1960s Victoria Royal dress from Couture Allure and wore it for her anniversary dinner that was celebrated in Las Vegas.  Doesn't she look beautiful?  The dress compliments the glow of love shining from her smile.

You've met Jen before on this blog.  A lover of vintage fashion, Jen is the author of The Jersey Shore: Atlantic City to Cape May.  Jen snatched up this vintage 40s suit by Philip Mangone to wear for her more formal business meetings.  It's a timeless classic that suits her to a T, don't you think?

Jen purchased several vintage sundresses to wear for her book signing engagements this summer.  I think this bright stripes dress from the 1970s is perfect for her, don't you?

Meet Jen!

Meet Jen Miller, freelance writer and author of The Jersey Shore: Atlantic City to Cape May.  Jen also pens the blog Down the Shore with Jen.  Jen is a lover of vintage clothing and has been a frequent customer of Couture Allure since finding me on Twitter.  She wore this sweet 1960s dress to a recent book signing in Avalon, NJ.  Doesn't she look fabulous in orange? Jen, this color makes your skin positively glow!

Jen grabbed this vintage 50s dress during my recent Last Chance Sale and I've got to say, she makes it come alive!  This dress is going to work hard in Jen's wardrobe all summer long and I know she'll think of a million ways to accessorize it.  Thanks Jen!

Laura is a favorite around here.  She has a great eye for what will work on her.  Laura purchased this 1950s chiffon party dress as soon as I listed it on the site last summer.  She wore it last weekend to the annual Gala at her workplace.  Laura, you look beautiful and you do the dress proud!

More Customer Inspiration!

Meet Vanna.  She snapped up this gorgeous vintage 1950s taffeta polka dot dress as soon as it appeared on the website.  Vanna says she loved the red lining of the pockets and cuffs, so she added a red belt, shoes and a red petticoat to make the dress her own.  A red crinoline...simply genius! Vanna, you are a vision of vivaciousness!

Carmen's been a customer of mine for several years now.  She has exquisite taste.  When I decided to sell some of the vintage handbags from my personal collection earlier this year, Carmen grabbed this bag as her very own.  She then built an entire spring outfit around it.  She found a vintage 60s yellow linen dress embroidered with orange flowers, added the vintage hat, gloves and jewelry and modern orange shoes.  Voila!  Carmen said when she wore this ensemble, "...total strangers struck up conversations telling me how beautiful my outfit is and those who didn't comment smiled brightly."

Tobi sent me these pics after wearing this 1960s cocktail dress she purchased from Couture Allure to a wedding last weekend.  Tobi said she got SO many compliments.  Well, of course, Tobi.  You look beautiful!  There's Tobi with her husband above, and a full length shot below.

Thank you to everyone who sends pictures!  We all love to see real women wearing real vintage and you're an inspiration to the rest of us!

Laura's Back and Meet Melinda!

You've met Laura a couple of times before.  On Friday, Laura wore this 1950s dress she purchased from Couture Allure in honor of the Royal Wedding.  With it, she wore a vintage hat and a pretty brooch by Weiss.  She told me her outfit got rave reviews at the office!

1950s navy pleated dress from Couture Allure.  The nice thing about this dress is it came with a matching jacket, which Laura can wear with it or with other things in her closet.

Meet Melinda!  She bought this 1960s black silk jacquard dress from Couture Allure and wore it to a wedding this past weekend.  Doesn't she look great?  Melinda says, "For me, the secret of wearing vintage is to combine it with very modern pieces to contrast.  While I think young girls can pull off a head-to-toe vintage look, I'm 36, and on me I think head-to-toe vintage is aging.  (And also looks like I'm going to a costume party!)  So when I wear vintage, I make sure my hairstyle, shoes, purse, and jewelry are very modern and definitely not vintage."

Melinda also bought this fabulous 1960s silk dress and coat set from Couture Allure.  She wore it on Easter Sunday with bright pink peep-toe shoes that were a perfect choice!  Melinda looks just as pretty as the flower garden she stands in.  Thank you Melinda!

Meet Kristin and Penny

Meet Kristin, who is a beautiful red head with a flair for fashion.  Kristin bought this yummy 1960s leopard print coat by Dan Millstein from Couture Allure and I think she looks simply fabulous in it!  Meow!

The flared shape of the coat falls beautifully at the back, don't you think?  Kristin said she has the perfect long black gloves to wear with the coat when the weather warrants.  Enjoy your coat Kristin!

Meet Penny and Anniken

I always enjoy seeing my customers wearing the vintage they buy from me, and I know you do too.

Meet Penny of Penny Dreadful Vintage. She's wearing a 1950s polka dot dress she bought from Couture Allure. I love the way Penny has accessorized the dress with green tights and gold shoes.

Here she adds a green jacket and coordinating scarf to completely change the look. Penny, you look marvelous and thanks for giving us an example of what we can do to make a vintage dress fun and modern!

I recently sold this vintage 1970s Hanae Mori evening gown and was lucky enough to see it on Anniken during my trip to California last month. Doesn't she look lovely?

While I prefer to show the garments I sell on a dressform for the website, sometimes a dress just comes alive on a real person. When Anniken moved in the dress, the two layers floated and the prints played off of one another in an enchanting fashion. You could see the butterflies on the underdress through the chiffon outer layer and it looked like they were flitting about in the mist. Mori's genius was apparent and I was delighted and amazed.

Meet Lovely Bride Amanda

A couple of years ago, I sold this 1970s Hanae Mori silk evening gown to Amanda. She had been searching for a unique dress to use for her wedding. Amanda has a wonderful vision and knew she could remake this dress into her bridal gown. I normally don't advocate reworking vintage, but in this instance I think Amanda has done a brilliant job and she made a truly unique and one-of-a-kind wedding dress.

Here is Amanda on her wedding day. She changed the dress lining from coral to green, removed the long sleeves, and reworked the neckline. Isn't she beautiful?

Meet Jessica and Alexis

You've told me how much you love seeing real people wearing vintage, and today I have some true beauties for you!

A couple of months ago, I was honored to sell this gorgeous vintage 1960s evening gown to British actress Jessica Fox. The hem of the gown has godet inserts all the way around so it flares out mermaid style.

Jessica plays Nancy Hayton on the British soap opera "Hollyoaks", and she wore the gown to the British Soap Opera Awards this past Sunday!

Jessica, you look gorgeous, and that low back is perfect on you!

You've met Alexis before. She wore this 1950s Anne Fogarty velvet dress purchased from Couture Allure to her Winter Ball last year.

Alexis also purchased this stunning 1940s Patullo evening gown in navy blue with a lighter blue insert and flowers at the waist.

Here is Alexis wearing the Patullo gown for her prom in April. She did a wonderful job of pulling an entire outfit together with a white ostrich plume in her hair and white lace gloves. Her hair and makeup are perfect accents to this glamorous look. Alexis, you're beautiful!
