Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was born on Nov. 1, 1973 is an Indian film actor. She worked as a model before his acting career, and eventually won the Miss World Pageant in 1994.

She is married to another actor Abhishek Bachchan. In 2009 she was honored with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award by the Indian government.

Rai was born into a Tulu speaking Bunt family in Mangalore, Karnataka. Her father, Krishnaraj, was a marine biologist, while the mother is Brindya housewife. One one of her professors at Jai Hind College, took pictures of her , which was published in a fashion magazine. In 1991, Rai attended the Ford Supermodel Contest and also appeared in Vogue Magazine. She has been on the cover of Vogue three times. Aishwarya Rai is a two-time winner of the Filmfare Best Actress Award, and has been nominated for the Filmfare Awards eleven times. She has won several times at the International Indian Film Academy Awards, Star Screen Awards, Zee Cine Awards, and others.
